Audio Director / Composer / Sound Designer - Immersive // (2015 - present)

A huge variety of roles and projects over the last several years. Audio directing for Instagram’s Superzoom and Portal Story Time AR. Sound Design for the Wolves in the Walls VR (Emmy Winner) and NightMara VR, Composer for the upcoming Pepitos VR experience, and UI design for Facebook, Messenger, Messenger Kids, Notify and others.

  • Audio director: Build and lead diverse teams while overseeing all aspects of audio production. This includes sound design, UI, music composition, mix and implementation. Manage communications with stakeholders to ensure highest quality audio meets project needs and expectations. Collaborate directly with software engineers and creative coders to create and refine required audio tools, and to create impactful sound through high-quality audio implementation.

  • Sound designer: Create UI with utility and delight. Sound design for linear and immersive experiences covering everything from interaction sounds to full AAA game audio. This includes bespoke sound effects, Foley, hard effects, dialogue editing and processing and UI. Optimize audio for target platforms ranging from phones to computers to VR headsets, as well as video messaging and company designed hardware products.

  • Composer: Write music for traditional film, games, advertisements, immersive experiences in a huge variety of styles. Music created can range from linear audio score to picture to multi layered interactive music that is implemented to follow gameplay. I create using computer software, hardware synthesizers, acoustic instruments and work with live musicians for larger budget productions.

  • Mixer/Mastering Engineer: Mix experiences ranging from mono audio and music for mobile AR games, stereo music, post production - mixes for stereo, 5.1, and Atmos. I optimize mixes for specific playback devices, ranging from phone to virtual reality, headsets, video messaging devices and consumer audio systems.

  • Other skills: include audio and dialog localization, post production workflows, game, engine, implementation, create accurate budget, and time estimates for proposed projects, experienced remote worker

Pixar Animation Studios

Audio Editor & Sound Designer // (2014 - 2015)

Work directly with Pixar's film directors and video editors to bring works in progress to life by creating production SFX and temp scores.
Films Projects: Coco, Cars 3, Monsters University, Inside Out, Finding Dory, Toy Story 4, Toy Story Tower of Terror, The Good Dinosaur

Responsibilities included:

  • Sound Design: Create sound effects (SFX) through original recordings and editing from SFX libraries. Develop signature sounds that may be used in the final product

  • Scoring: Compose musical tracks and create temp scores by editing together musical cues from an extensive music library

  • Mixing: Mix the audio of scenes in progress for screenings

  • Editing: Conform the audio of scenes that already have SFX and music but have been re-edited. Requires that I work quickly to adapt audio to ever-changing picture and story edits. 

  • Organizing and logging:  Develop easily searchable entries into the music library by adding descriptive keywords and mapping key musical moments 

  • Building the library: Create musical and SFX utility files that can be used by all sound editors at Pixar.  These sounds fill in the gaps in the SFX and music libraries

Disney

Creative Supervisor - Disney Character Voices International // (2011 - 2014)

Cast and direct voice actors and singers for all international releases. Responsible for Voice Over (VO) quality and consistency for all Disney properties including games, films, TV, home video and theme park environments globally.  Create project descriptions, detailed casting scope-of-work, manage localization issues, and supervise overall creative feel/direction of the project.

Responsibilities included:  

  • Casting and Performance:  Ensure casting and performance of actors and vocalists in international territories meets Disney’s exacting standards; Oversee characters old (Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, etc.) and new  (Toy Story, Monster’s Inc., Frozen, etc.) throughout all international markets for theatrical, television and home video releases.

  • Recording Sessions: Direct recording and mixing sessions; keep sessions on schedule and budget; negotiate and approve costs.

  • Lead Sheets: Oversee the creation of a printed musical score for singers to use in the dub sessions for all international sessions.

  • Legal:  Serve as general legal rights liaison (credits, subtitling, etc). Research legal rights to music and communicate them to the field; Legal dubbing rights research and communication.

Write, record, perform guitar, bass, and piano, and mix and master all music. Oversee and manage the entire music production process. Select and hire musicians, manage budgets, rent equipment, and book studio locations.
